Solid bamboo rolls or panels are a better idea for a boundary as they are more durable. Both split and solid are strong and last a very long time, however it is important not to let them rest on earth or grass. They must be installed above ground level or moisture will eventually rot them. Bamboo fencing does not come pressure treated so this is important. The posts on which the fence is attached to should be pressure treated so that they don't rot. The posts should be set in concrete in the ground.

This type of fencing won't be an option for many fence contractors. However it is available in some home improvement stores and garden centers. It is also available by mail order online. If ordering online, be aware that this isn't a perfect product, the pieces are all different in shape. This means there will be gaps but most manufacturers of the panels and rolls have excellent quality control, so gaps are minimal.
