Some Garden
Paving Ideas for your home
By garden paving I
mean more decorative, ornamental style paving as opposed to standard patio paving. Whether you have a small garden
or patio or large ones, there are always some extra ideas that can be incorporated by using special garden paving
stones.
For example
stepping stones make an elegant path to a storage shed. Around the edge of a patio some people lay brick pavers to
separate the lawn from the flagstones. Some people choose or are forced to have a raised flower bed along the lawn.
If this is the case then there is often one small entrance to the lawn which can become muddy in times of rain.
This is the perfect time to get creative by using bricks or slabs to lead onto the lawn, perhaps using different
paving patterns to the patio area. Then stepping stones can be added to lessen the load onto the turf without
creating a full hard standing area.
Some people find that their patio
doesn't catch much light all through the day. This is the perfect chance to use something like a circle kit in a
better position for a small seating area. Circle kits come in various sizes and are often available to match the
paving stones on your patio. They can be edges in brick pavers (block paving) too. Companies like Marshalls paving
also have different shapes like a hexagonal kit.
If you have a storage shed you may want to use
some garden paving at the front door. Old flagstones can be used as a shed base, they make a cheap alternative
to laying a concrete foundation. For a greenhouse it is a good idea to actually lay garden paving slabs or
bricks as the base for the frame. Inside a greenhouse its a good idea to lay a row of 1foot wide flagstones as
a thing path which allows soil either side.
Many people get the idea of laying
brick pavers as a garden paving around flower beds. Care should be taken if attempting this as bricks (or blocks)
will require an extra solid concrete foundation to prevent them from moving. Brands like Marshalls paving have
better suited decorative garden paving ideas for borders. These include concrete or stone edgings or curbs, fake
wood concrete edgings, and extra small brick pavers or cobble setts.
Rather than just getting a standard
patio in basic paving stones, it is worth getting a couple of catalogs. You
will soon find some garden paving ideas to suit your own home. These little extras can really tie the outside areas
together and it is always best to have them done by a contractor at the same times as other
work.
